Supervisor Posted March 26, Jim K Like Loading If I look at the SSD on my system - with paging file on it..

I wouldn't worry about the small amount of data your using, if your worried about writing some data to your drive - your doing it wrong What is the size of this SSD.. Writing large files and the Pagefile is indeed large to the HD will cause a lot of disk activity that will cause performance degradation. Also, since the Pagefile only grows in increments, you will probably cause Pagefile fragmentation, adding more overhead to the already stressed HD.

Paging files do not need fault-tolerance, and some fault-tolerant systems suffer from slow data writes because they write data to multiple locations. I also leave a small portion on the root drive in case of HD failure. Shofkom's World of Information Technology. By default, the C: drive has a system managed paging set for itself. The pagefile can occupy as much as 8 GB of space at times and it is best to move this file out of the C: drive to save valuable space.

Follow these steps to move pagefile from C: to another drive:. Now specify a new page file on another drive you have. To do that, select the desired drive from the list and choose the System managed size option.
