Hack nerovision 3.0

I would rate the encoders I tested in this order. TMPGEnc 3. Not quite as good as CCE, but it comes with more options. For example, you can't even change font size on the DVD menus. Review by leon42 on Feb 19, Version: 3. It works okay with TDK. Clone seems to be more functional, Shrink is more functional with regard to menus, and Shrink's compression seems better on my systems. Review by starofradiance on Jan 26, Version: 2.

After downloading and using this software I can disclose a nice comparison test. Pros: 1 Mpeg2 DVD video encoding is excellent. If you have Divx or Xvid movies with bitrate of or higher you can be rest assured of seeing no Blocking nor pixelation Unlike the other two competitors. Review by ghozmeet on Jan 10, Version: 3. You can elect random transitions or pick the exact transition between each slide.

You can individually set any slide or transition time. Builds titles just like a video DVD. I have friends in a local photography club that have been very impressed with the slide shows that NeroVision produces. I have no complaints with the video dvd process either except that the user manual is for Version 2.

Review by JohnA on Jan 10, Version: 3. Latest version works well for me. WinXP sp2. Review by johnruiz on Jan 3, Version: 6. Agreed with the last post. Just upgraded, i've burnt over discs, with maybe 1 or 2 coasters in the past. This one, 2 so far, both coasters. Searching for the previous version that worked for the last poster now. Review by alsyed on Jan 2, Version: 6. I was a little leery of this program because quite a few users have reported problems not so much here but elsewhere.

However, I figured it wouldn't hurt to download the trial of the current version. Somewhat to my surprise, every component of Nero 6 Ultra Edition that I've tried works great. Other than that, no difficulties at all. DV captures from my camcorder are perfect. I'd suggest that anybody who is interested in Nero Ultra Edition download the trial and give it a shot. If it works for you, it's one heck of a deal NeroVision alone is worth the price of the whole program suite.

Nero gave me virtually coaster-free service for years, up until version 6. Reverting to version 6. Review by OldAmateur on Dec 24, Version: 6. Very easy to use, I love the fact that you can make your own buttons and backgrouds for the menu, very cool Review by bestjsg on Dec 18, Version: 3. Nerovision Express 3 has the 'smart encode' option that won't re-encode already compliant files.. Easy to make menus and chapters, great experience!

Played fine on a standalone with great quality. Review by sarmadgilani on Dec 16, Version: 3. Nero was suppoussed to be one of the best programs to autor a dvd, until now. The new version detects macrovision and converts your video files in digital squares, so when you get your dvd you get the menu and digital squares instead of files.

Stuck with older versions. I in fact have done just that. I have been using this program for years and it works perfect for me. Review by tmlim on Dec 6, Version: 6.

Functionality score low due to having no custom install, if i could install burning rom on its own ie Nero 5 i would give it a 10 without doubt.

Usage is fairly straight forward, help files are minimal, trial and error is required. After downloading the most recent version 3.

I'm hoping that my contact with Nero techsupport will provide a solution. Review by genoajim on Dec 5, Version: 3.

This might be a good tool to 'burn' DVD's. It is lousy at editing mpg files. My output is dvd-mpg. I've run into a consistent problem: After editing the file, by removing commercials, I get sound out of synch with the video. If I edit the same file with Ulead, it works great!! Review by cpined on Dec 2, Version: 6. I have been using Nero for years, and I haven't used anything else since I started.

Excellent program and gets better and better with each version release! Review by tmlim on Nov 30, Version: 6. Yes, Nero Is the burning tool No:1! It's fancy looking, flash-a-lot app with a load of advanced features but does it have to be so damn massive? I really like Nero since 5. Review by Co0L on Oct 27, Version: 6. Less macroblocking than Shrink and in half the time.

Testing a multi-angle movie now to see how it handles that. By the way I tested with main movie only and viewed it on a 32inch TV. Review by KiwiKid on Oct 26, Version: 2. I have been using the Nero Program suite for several years now.

It provides a lot of functionality for a very reasonable price. I have now produced 3 DVD's with menus, transitions, splices, fades, music etc etc. I have found it nice and easy to use, and able to produce reliable results. De-Speckle for low light video. Normalise for audio.

Review by retepsnikrep on Oct 2, Version: 2. Review by xalex on Sep 24, Version: 6. Needs more codecs!! Cannot transcode all my movies!! I like Nero Vision Express, but I was disappointed that it still does not fix my capture problem, which I have reported to Nero techs. I was simply told to uninstall and re install Nero -it didnt happen.

For me it was pretty much a waste of money. Always works great, never had any sync problems. Re-encoding can take 1. The end result of quality and the "overall time" was about the same though. Overall it's a basic, solid and simple to use DVD Authoring program.

The entire Nero 6 Ultra Edition Package is great. Review by OverBurn on Aug 13, Version: 2. I am thoroughly impressed with this software. I've had some time to play with it and learn a few things. Firstly, it does have the ability to create sub-menus. I did it after I created the chapters in my avi's which is also another cool feature. You can add any song for the menus you want, it has hundreds of backgrounds with which you can also choose your own from personal pics and many buttons.

While it does re-transcode everything, that doesn't bother me. I'm not a pro DVD author so I don't need super complex dvd authoring software, hence this program which is outstanding. Review by brent1a on Jul 22, Version: 2. I use NeroVision Express for most of my casual DVD authoring, because it really is relatively quick and easy, and reasonably functional. I've tried some of the other packages, but they are either not significantly better, or just too expensive to buy for casual use.

Review by Ames on Jul 22, Version: 2. Never burned a coaster with Nero yet. It can even burn and create image files. Every other burning program has given me calibration errors along with coasters. Nero is a godsend! The only thing I wish Ahead would do is create better install options to exclude the extra tools like wave editors and backup tools which is forced upon when installing Nero.

Review by muppet meat on Jul 10, Version: 6. Ive tried to upgrade firmware for DVDR - and it work propperly now. Review by kanady on Jun 27, Version: 2.

I got nero 5. I use this application mostly for burning activities and I do not think the upgrade was necessary. For data Nero 5. I would think that the only real reason for upgrading would be the support of double layer burners. Review by ofbarea on Jun 25, Version: 5. Tried everything- no succes uptil now Review by gerardhvisser on Jun 22, Version: 2. Nero Recode 2 encountered an error and cannot continue Searching the web with Google gives about 10 hits with this error message.

According other reports, DVD Shrink uses the same error message. All kinds of theories were given by authors on the web. None report success with the same hardware but different software.

The result was that Ulead's software had no problem reading my vob's etc. Conclusion: In my case this is clearly a software related problem. Review by wafmaf on Jun 19, Version: 2. After installing this latest update xxx. I de-installed back to xxx. Well Nero Vision Express 2 is really easy to use and creates good quality.

But I have problems with the newest version 2. DVDs created with this version don't play on my stan alone. DVDs created with an older version I think its 2. Any ideas where the problem might be? Review by misch on Jun 3, Version: 2.

Do yourself a favor and stick to version 5. All I ever got myself and heard from others with version 6. If you try to use any of the other features capture, author, shrink, encode, etc then you'll very likely be highly disappointed.

Ahead is a burning technology company. All these other non-burning features work pretty inferior compared to REAL tools designed at doing those functions.

You've been warned. Review by lordsmurf on Jun 2, Version: 5. It's really easy to use, accepts any kind of file that you put. The only thing about a complain is that in certain files the program creates by itself a chapter cutting in parts your file, destroing it, but that happen with CERTAIN files.

Overall is a great program, my favorite. Review by eburini on May 28, Version: 2. This works great for me. I just select an avi, pick the right bitrate and ac-3 audio and it works. Very easy. It auto detects the correct format pretty well. You aren't sposed to import complient mpeg or vobs with this program. For that you need something else, nero express can do it, but is not great. Vision express works good with AVI's. For me, nero vision express 2 i quite fast.

Much faster then TMPG. I made 10 dvd's. They took hours, and some were up to 4 hours long themselves, so it encoded in near realtime. Tried TMPG and it took 12 hours to do a 3 hours video. Way too long. To top it off the audio sync was totaly broken. Nerovision express is pretty simple, run thru its wizard, go to sleep, and you wake up with a DVD burned and ready for you. Review by garak on May 20, Version: 2.

Great app. DVDShrink failed for me, errors at the end of the disk. Did the same thing with recode and it worked perfect. Sure you gota pay, but its worth it. Review by garak on May 4, Version: 2. I upgraded my old version of Nero Recode 2. I have DVD Shrink v. I tested with and old DVD that it has several "lines" and Recode could not finish the back up, instead of Shrink, who it could finish it without a problem and in a good way. Review by morcamtec on May 3, Version: 2. Well Done! Review by jmone on Mar 29, Version: 2.

I had version 5. It took me 5 minutes to get used to the upgrade, and it's worked great. I have not burned one coaster yet. I don't use all the programs that come with it, but the one's I do use are quite good. Very pleased. Review by dwisniski on Mar 28, Version: 6. Another bug fix soon Here comes Nerobug 63XX. Review by GangstaMo on Mar 27, Version: 6. Nero is the easiest to use and compile a disk. I've had all these "on board" but always went back to Nero, despite some crashes etc.

Nero sent me a "cleaner" prog that del'd it. My only moan about Nero, is that the dwld 26mb has too many junk programs included that I don't want or need.

RecordMax is only 7mb. Review by dvdinfo on Mar 26, Version: 6. The latest upgrade to 6. You could still write -R media with no problems. My solution was to uninstall Nero, then re-install from the original CD without doing any updates. I am now running the original version from CD 6. Review by jim prince on Mar 26, Version: 6. Work fine and fast, very good results. I had problems with the disc from DVDR75 philips too in previous versions can't remember exactly, which was the last with the error , but the actual version and the one before is working propperly, without problems.

The Nero Digital format is very good - very good quality of output, one subtitle track in stream playable on Nero Show Time , excelent sound quality.

But, isn't exist a free player, that could be play Nero Digital viedos with all features like Nero Show Time.. Review by kanady on Mar 21, Version: 2. Work fine and fast, and it is stable. The output quality is good. Very easy to make motion backgrounds menus and animated buttons. Not extra good: Unpossible to switch off chapter numbering and unpossible to make only one menu screen, even if you have more titles on disc. For all: The programm is running slow?

Try to keep your systems free of all trash, millions of dll they come with every shit downloaded from elsewhere You'd think they would've solved that by now since even support told me they've been getting this problem before. Review by mishkagogo on Mar 20, Version: 2. I have had no problem with the previous versions of nero..

It is asking for me to purchase a dvd video plugin to use recode. Looks like NERO is loosing me as a customer. They keep making updates and making people purchase new things to go with it. Anyone know where one can get this mpeg2 plugin? Review by kwinn on Mar 19, Version: 2. I downloaded an earlier demo and it work great. Nero insists on recoding already compliant MPG video.

The demo transcoded and burned in less than two hours, the NEW???? Tech support won't answer questions. Using the feedback form doesn't help. I need legal help!!!!! Review by jjamison on Mar 16, Version: 2. Stay with Nero 5. Because it works unlike Ver. Review by redd on Mar 12, Version: Nero 5. Review by fzf5bl on Mar 10, Version: 6. Hey, I think the program is very good because of its ease of use and with the newest version, stabillity too.

The only thing I miss with it is subtitels-funktionallity. But I got subtitels for them too and would like them to come with on the DVD. Anyone know a easy way to get them with on DVD's with use of Nero Vision Express, maybe with help from a other program? Review by Techpete on Feb 29, Version: 2. Think they are in kahoots with Hollywood. Wont allow you to split up movies into two disks.

Also I cant over burn. I tried mode two and it reads mb when I put in a mb file. And when I put in a mb file it says too large.

Works good with storage of your clips and pics. Also good for file conversions. At least you can put DRM protected files on disk. They need to allow disks to burn faster rates.

Many disks only burn 16x when they say 48x. Review by ghostlamp on Feb 24, Version: 5. Does anyone else have this problem or know a remidy? Review by 12 gage on Feb 20, Version: 2. I have tried using NeroVision Express to create a Karaoke DVD compilation with a simple menu and everything looks fine except that the Burning process to hard-disk was very very long almost 5 hours and somehow NVE only imports one of the two audio tracks on the input VOB files.

Therefore the resulting DVD is useless for me. I also had several occasions where NVE just kicks me out and vanishes.

Review by johnwu02 on Feb 16, Version: 2. This is a great program. I have made many backups and have no complaints about the quality or features. All my backups turn out great. By the way to the person below. I think Recode allowed you to select the default language before Shrink did. All you have to do is go to Profiles on the DVD Backup screen and select the Audio tab and then select the language you want. Review by bkimmle on Feb 15, Version: 2. When I upgraded to v6 I thought it was time to put my old 8mm home movies onto DVD, and Vision Express appeared to be the ideal no-cost option to do this.

As if this wasn't bad enough, I've tried using Ahead's tech support. This certainly reflects even more badly on Ahead than the useless software itself does. All I get from them is moronic responses to one or two questions and pointedly no response at all other questions. For instance, apparently my capture card is not supported.

My 'capture card' is a firewire card, and a firewire card is one of the stated system requirements. If anyone wants to see the full, sorry, 'dialogue' with this so-called tech support, I'll gladly post the whole lot here. Review by mtillman on Feb 15, Version: 2. Lacks one thing that DVDShrink has, and that's being able to set the default loaded audio and subtitle tracks. This is by far the best program to do anything with dvd's.

AnyDVD is a utility that runs on your system tray. It removes all the copy protection from a dvd. So when You have Anydvd running, you can copy any dvd with Nero Recode.

I Think its the best. They also work great. Review by jasonk on Feb 12, Version: 6. Review by freiner on Feb 12, Version: 2.

NeroVision Express is admittedly quirky. It works fine on my Athlon XP based machine but up until the latest patch refused to work on my Pentium 4 3. Quite why that is is unclear. In operation NeroVision is fairly easy to use. Basic operation is straight forward enough to allow a beginner to get up and running quickly.

More experienced users with appreciate it's ability to transcode export several different file types and the transcoded output quality is very good. Transcoding speed is not fast by any stretch of the imagination even on my P4 3Ghz, but this can vary and speed improves if you aren't trancoding to and from very different file types. It would be nice to see the ability to queue transcoding jobs in a future revision. To sum up, a useful tool to have on your PC providing you can get it to work.

Review by chuffster on Feb 11, Version: 2. Nero Recode produces great quality backups with very little hassle. Making backups is easy and no longer a chore. If you need to make backups you NEED to get this.

Nero Recode - for best results choose only the movie and sound track. Decent quality blank DVDs - a step which far too many skip when first making backups. This allows you to add files multiple times to the disc. You have to go to the settings before burning the CD and enable this option, otherwise, the program will finalize the disc, and then nothing can be added.

The Colossus has an internal TBC that can be turned on with a registry hack. Other Hauppauge devices may not have this. In my opinion at sufficiently high bit rates recording directly to H. Just do whatever works for you. People like you who are just now starting to record tons of videotapes they suddenly can't live without and have only recently begun to realize won't last forever often find very old websites with advice from 10 years ago advising the use of certain VCRs that are now quite rare and hard to find in working condition.

We also occasionally get newbies who don't realize what an abominable video format VHS tape is. If you're recording old recordings you made yourself, they were likely done at slower speeds and thus lower quality. I'd say that even commercial VHS tapes really weren't all that good. You'll see when you start to do this. Paths for insanity are to get so discouraged in your captures and your drive for perfection that NOTHING you end up recording looks good enough for you, so you keep starting over we had an infamous thread here where someone did that or to start buying really expensive VCRs because a decade ago they were good but no longer are today.

The recommended VCRs from the old days are now breaking down due to overuse and at this point the only sensible recommendation unless you have a lot of money to burn is to just go with whatever decent working VCR you can get. Any approach that doesn't just accept what you can get as "good enough" and "it will have to do" is pointless in my opinion.

I have a decent JVC VCR that is not one of the recommended models from many years ago, but it's one of the better consumer models available at the time I bought it and it still works reliably.

The fact that I do this less than 10 times a year is why my VCR still works. Just so you know, if you wanted to get into something that it's really not too late to start capturing and saving, that would be laserdisc. I'll check out the Colossus. I ordered one of those Toshiba dvd-r decks too so I'll give that a try first. Most of these are poor quality to began with.

I'm not looking for perfection at all: rather preservation. Well then; thank you to everyone. I found my not so standalone solution but I think it's going to work well enough. The Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. Looks like this combined with some good software programs I already have can overall be the best solution. So on to conversions Blackmagic Intensity devices are way overkill for VHS capture. They won't work well without a full frame time base corrector.

And even then they're not especially good at standard definition video capture -- SD capture is just an afterthought for them. Their primary consideration is high def capture. Toshiba burner deck didn't work out. I've gotten some good suggestions here and I'm gonna give what i ordered a try. Don't get it. BMI Shuttle is the absolute exact opposite of the easy standalone solution you were looking for.

Not only is USB 3. If you are still intent on direct to h, Blackmagic do make a "Video Recorder" product that does just that, although I don't know how good it is so therefore can't advise getting it.

These are options as far as I'm concerned in no order : 1. Lossless - You can buy a cheap ATI or similar USB TV stick and capture losslessly, however it does have a big learning curve and unless you have a good playback hardware and b intend on serious restoration, it just isn't worth the trouble.

I'm of the opinion that no newbie ever gets around to fixing all their videos anyway, past the point of relying on this forum's members to fix it for them. Additionally, since the files are also huge, there are hidden storage costs to be aware of that can get quite high.

DVD Recorder - Your easy standalone option. Looks like it's already been covered in this thread however, so I'll leave this one be.

DV converter - Some members here won't be happy with me for bringing this up. But whatever. It's not lossless but it's close, at smaller file sizes and easily editable.

But most importantly it is reliable at capturing and simple to use. Not exactly cheap, but still cheaper that the Shuttle. The catch is you do need a FireWire card. Good luck. PS: I am actually pretty interested in the footage you're trying to convert. If you ever upload some, please send me a link. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised to not be disagreed with on this topic.

Where's Sanlyn at? Busy editing another posts? Unless I'm missing something and someone please correct me if I'm wrong I see very little difference between DV and lossless other than how a decoder interprets them which nullifies much of the flamethrowing IMO. For me it is on some tapes, but it won't be for all. I agree, the difference in playback quality is barely visible.

Chroma is not an issue, as long as the DV decoder is interpolating and not duplicating it. Cedocida is the best pick. As you said, DV easily captures what little colour VHS has - there is no loss as some would have us believe typically those who don't use it.

The main difference is the fixed 25 Mbps and less editing headroom, which I have no issue with. It's a small price to pay for no headaches as you put it. The extra padding that lossless provides is worthless for most people anyway. Regardless, the decoding shouldn't be an issue anyway, even if the decoder used creates that dithering effect.
